How Your Dollars Do Exponentially More for Kids

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in the world, 14 million children in the United States face hunger. But lack of food isn’t the problem – the problem is ensuring that children have reliable access to it.

Grocery costs are high, and many working parents don’t make a fair wage. And while there are programs to help, many eligible children aren’t enrolled in them. No Kid Hungry is working to eliminate these barriers and fix the systems that are supposed to feed kids, so families can provide for themselves and build brighter futures for their children. That means working at the policy level to strengthen and protect programs designed to keep millions of children fed every single day and making programs work better for families. This includes  school meals,  summer meals, and grocery benefits like  Summer EBT and  SNAP. It also means  helping families build financial stability so that one hard month doesn’t mean kids go hungry.

We work with organizations in all 50 states by  providing grants to help communities get what they need to feed kids, and we carefully invest donor dollars, so schools and communities can reach more kids.

More Impact Per Dollar

Since 2020, we’ve provided  over $204 million in grants to communities across the country to help them feed children. When you support No Kid Hungry, every dollar you give does exponentially more for kids, multiplying their strength, growth and joy. Here are some of the ways your donation can help us feed kids:

  • We help schools and community groups pay for resources they need to launch or expand meal programs for kids like breakfast served in the classroom – a proven way to ensure more kids start the school day ready to learn.

  • We provide grant funding for essential equipment – from refrigerators to delivery trucks – to connect more families to programs like SUN Meals To-Go, which enables families living on low incomes in rural communities to grab summer meals on the go or have them delivered wherever they live.

  • We work with state agencies to make it easier for families to enroll in grocery benefit programs like SNAP and Summer EBT that have the power to help kids grow up smarter, stronger and healthier.

  • We invest in organizations working on the “root causes” of hunger – from low wages to the high cost of healthy foods – so families, especially those led by single moms, can build financial stability making it more likely for their kids to have the resources they need to thrive for generations to come.

  • We offer  research and training expertise to educators and community leaders who want to feed more children.
