Join Us: Child Tax Credit Day of Awareness

Next month, millions of American families will start receiving monthly payments through the enhanced Child Tax Credit, a newly expanded benefit designed to help parents with the costs of raising children.

The Child Tax Credit has been helping families with children for decades in the form of an annual tax refund, but under the newly enhanced version, for one year, the benefit will also be available to hardest hit families with income too low to require filing taxes. In addition, families can receive benefits monthly, as an advance on their return. Experts say this could be a game changer for children in poverty.

For families who filed for taxes in 2019 and 2020, no action is needed. Families who didn’t have incomes high enough to require filing taxes, however, should apply now.
