Washington, DC - This weekend, Congress reached a deal on a COVID-19 relief package that will include increased assistance for families struggling with hunger. The following is a statement from Share Our Strength Senior Vice President Lisa Davis:

“Millions of children today are teetering on the edge of a hunger cliff, and the hardship they face today has the power to change the rest of their lives. These children and their families need help and they need it quickly. We commend Congress for coming to agreement on a relief package that will provide critical assistance for hungry children and families struggling through this pandemic. This legislation, which includes important nutrition provisions such as a temporary 15% increase in SNAP benefits, will be a victory for the estimated 17 million kids who may face hunger today and the families facing extreme hardship during this crisis. This is an important step, but more needs to be done. We urge Congress to act quickly to pass this package and come together in bipartisanship to continue to address ongoing needs of struggling families and children over the coming months.”
