Donor Privacy Policy

Share Our Strength – along with its No Kid Hungry, Cooking Matters and other campaigns – are committed to respecting the privacy of its financial and in-kind donors, whether the donation is made online, by mail, or any other method.

When you make a financial or in-kind donation, Share Our Strength may collect donors’ personal information such as names, company names, titles, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, payment information (like credit card data), etc. through online or offline communications.

Share Our Strength uses personal information about donors to respond to inquiries, process donations, issue receipts, help decide who will receive future solicitations (including matching gift requests), organize fundraising events, assess the effectiveness of Share Our Strength fundraising or services, inform donors of new activities and services, and similar activities.

We protect your information in a variety of ways.  We adhere to industry security safeguards to protect your information. Many donors use credit cards for donations. We protect the security of credit card transactions according to PCI-DSS security standards which employ encryption, access controls, network firewalls, and physical security. These measures make it extremely difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us.

Share Our Strength and its campaigns may share your information in various ways. First, we will disclose information as required by law. We may share your information with our vendors, partners and other third parties that help us with our activities and programs. For example, we share information with vendors that help us fulfill orders, manage data, and process donations and credit card payments. These vendors are bound by confidentiality rules and/or other data protection rules and are permitted to use the information only to support Share Our Strength operations. We may also share your personal information with third party ad servers, with other not-for-profit organizations, and with select commercial vendors or partners. You may opt-out from having your information shared and/or from receiving future communications from Share Our Strength and its campaigns by contacting us at contactus@strength.org. It is our policy to honor any no-solicitation request as quickly as possible. We are legally required to internally retain records related to donations made, so we cannot delete your name upon request. Instead, we flag records internally so that we can honor no-solicitation requests by suppressing mailings.
