How You Helped Fill Plates for Kids in 2023

Thanks to generous donors like you, the No Kid Hungry campaign helped millions of children get the nutritious food they need to nourish their bodies so they can dream big and reach their full potential.

Your continued support connected more kids to healthy meals programs in their schools and communities, like breakfast in the classroom, increasing the number of students ready to start the school day energized with full bellies.

Because of your generosity, we're able to make sure all children, no matter their zip code, have three healthy meals a day. We also provided more school districts and community organizations with financial resources to purchase much needed equipment, as well as the knowledge and expertise to deliver vital meals programs in unique ways.

“It’s a blessing to have support from the school district and No Kid Hungry. The fact that [my kids] are fed is a huge help for them. Not only for their learning, but so they become good people.” — Jose Carranza, Parent and school staff, West Palm Beach, Florida

Here are some of the ways you helped No Kid Hungry fill plates for kids across America in 2023.

Investing in Kids

  • This past year, we granted more than $25 million to school districts, community groups and other organizations. 71% of grant funding supported communities of color, and 59% supported rural communities (which also includes communities of color).
  • During the school year, No Kid Hungry grantees served more than 504 million meals to kids and families.

Major Advocacy Wins to Feed More Kids

  • We saw a major win for kids this year when Congress allocated $29 billion for childhood nutrition programs. These new policies —which we fought hard for—will provide eligible families with needed funds for groceries during the summer, as well as allow rural communities to deliver meals or provide pickup services during the summer.
  • In summer 2023, we distributed more than $2.3 million in grants to 113 school districts and organizations across 21 states to support these efforts.
  • This year's Texas state budget includes $6.6 MILLION to provide free breakfast to the 69,000 children who qualify for reduced price school meals.

Your Support Matters

Every kid needs three meals a day to grow up healthy, happy and strong, but 1 in 5 children still faces hunger. Childhood hunger is a solvable problem, but it’s going to take all of us to make No Kid Hungry a reality.

Ways You Can Help

  • Donate: 1 dollar can help provide 10 meals for kids in need. Your support will help us fund meal programs all over the country and help us advocate for policies that will help kids get the meals they need.
  • Speak up for kids: 1 in 5 kids in the United States is affected by hunger. Tell your lawmaker to protect SNAP and other federal nutrition programs that feed kids.
