Details about the opportunity

Want to have fun, meet new people, and make a far-reaching impact on hunger in North Alabama?  Then join other awesome people like you who volunteer at the Food Bank and help provide safe, nutritious food to feed the hungry!

We host volunteer shifts for groups and individuals three days per week. After a brief training, volunteers inspect, sort and pack our food donations into ready-to-go boxes.  This role is extremely important as it keeps our food supply safe. On some days, volunteers may also pack bags of produce for our mobile pantry program. Last year volunteers contributed over 5,000 hours and helped us supply over 8.9 million pounds of food to neighbors in need.

Our Food Sorting Captains lead teams of up to six volunteers (ages 16+) at a time during two shifts.
