In 2012, Deloitte expanded their commitment to Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign by collaborating on a project to identify and quantify the potential long-term impacts associated with children participating in the federal School Breakfast Program. This analysis, “Ending Childhood Hunger: A Social Impact Analysis,” showed there are dramatic potential impacts associated with the simple act of feeding kids a healthy school breakfast, including positive, large-scale outcomes in education, economics, and health. To support this engagement, Deloitte also sponsored the National School Breakfast Map, which paints a virtually unprecedented view of school breakfast programs across the country.
Deloitte has been a dedicated supporter of Share our Strength for many years through a range of skills-based contributions, sponsorships, and representation on the Board of Directors. Deloitte also recently sponsored the Summer Meals Evaluation Toolkit and a special Summer Meals Policy briefing on Capitol Hill.
Notes Joe Echevarria, CEO, Deloitte LLP: “School breakfast does much more than provide essential nutrition. It also improves a student’s ability to focus and thrive in the classroom. Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign helps children develop into our country’s future innovators and productive members of our workforce. Deloitte is passionate about advancing educational opportunities and proud to be a part of this important project.”
