Walmart designated Share Our Strength as a national partner to end childhood hunger in America

WalmartIn May 2010, Walmart designated Share Our Strength as a national partner to end childhood hunger in America, part of its $2 billion commitment over five years to fight hunger in the United States by partnering with leading national anti-hunger organizations.

With Walmart's support, Share Our Strength will make an even greater impact on the childhood hunger crisis in the United States through its No Kid Hungry campaign. Working together, Walmart and Share Our Strength will reach more of the 17 million U.S. children who struggle with hunger each year, bringing the country a step closer to making No Kid Hungry a reality.

As a Share Our Strength Core Partner and Cooking Matters national sponsor, Walmart has committed over $4 million to Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters and No Kid Hungry state and city campaigns. This generous support of Cooking Matters will provide critical resources needed for Share Our Strength to reach more families in more areas of the country and position Cooking Matters for future growth through key capacity building investments. Walmart's support will also make possible the launch of Shopping Matters, an interactive grocery store tour where participants practice key food shopping skills like buying fruits and vegetables on a budget, comparing unit prices, reading food labels, and identifying whole grain foods.
