OCTOBER 24, 2012 – LOS ANGELES, CA – On Tuesday, November 13, Share Our Strength® Founder and CEO Billy Shore, No Kid Hungry® National Spokesman Jeff Bridges and Executive Chef Ashley James of the Four Seasons Hotel, Los Angeles will host an exquisite, multi-course fundraising dinner for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, which is ending childhood hunger in the United States. The dinner will honor Michelle Kydd Lee, Executive Director of the CAA Foundation, Mary Sue Milliken, Co-Chef/Owner of the Border Grill Restaurant & Truck Chef, and Dr. John E. Deasy, Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, for their support of the national No Kid Hungry campaign.
Chef James will collaborate with acclaimed Los Angeles chefs Josiah Citrin of Melisse, Gino Angelini of Angelini Osteria and Marcel Vigneron of Modern Global Tasting, as well as renowned mixologist Josh Goldman of Rivera to prepare a memorable meal with a cause: ending childhood hunger in America.
The multi-course meal will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by a seated dinner at 7:00 p.m. featuring four elegant courses thoughtfully prepared by James and the guest chefs.
“I am honored to support the No Kid Hungry campaign by hosting this year’s Los Angeles dinner,” said Executive Chef Ashley James. “As a chef, I know the importance of healthy food in child’s life and am excited to come together with my fellow Los Angeles chefs to help end childhood hunger with Share Our Strength.”
“The No Kid Hungry campaign relies on the strengths of supporters around the nation – from chefs like Ashley James to educators and champions like Jeff Bridges – to help end childhood hunger in this country,” said Billy Shore. “This dinner is wonderful opportunity to honor Los Angeles supporters Michelle Kydd Lee, Mary Sue Milliken and Dr. Deasy, to increase awareness about the problem of child hunger and to raise the crucial funds needed to end it once and for all.”
“No child should grow up hungry in America, but one in five children struggle with hunger,” added Jeff Bridges. “Fundraisers like this help ensure the No Kid Hungry campaign is able to combat hunger through access, education and awareness-building.”
“Everyone has a role to play in ending childhood hunger,” continued Bridges, “including the youth of America and we are excited to announce the No Kid Hungry Youth Engagement Initiative at this dinner to get kids excited about helping kids in need.”
The No Kid Hungry Youth Engagement Initiative puts kids in charge of helping the nearly 16 million children who struggle with hunger. Thousands of children, teens and college-age adults are taking action to end childhood hunger in America, through social media, in school fundraising campaigns and advocacy. A new website, NoKidHungry2.org, gives voice to young hunger advocates by featuring stories from their peers about their struggle with hunger.
Individual tickets for the event are $500 and patron level tickets are available for $1,000. The Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef tables are currently available for $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000 respectively. Tickets and tables can be purchased online. All proceeds benefit the No Kid Hungry campaign’s mission to end childhood hunger in America.
