Our Impact: How We Fed 775 Million Meals to Kids

The architects of today’s treehouses will build tomorrow’s skyscrapers – but only if they have food today.

With your help, No Kid Hungry is making certain that every kid has a bright future. And we’re excited to share some big news. Together, Team No Kid Hungry and our partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with more than 775 million meals.

How, you ask?

We have plenty of food in this country. We also have effective programs that feed kids every day. The problem is that not enough families have access to them. No Kid Hungry has changed the way that schools, communities, and entire cities feed children in need.

We’re not reinventing the wheel. Rather, we look at the existing programs – like school breakfast or afterschool meal programs – to determine what’s not working or what’s missing. Then, we help community groups, schools, and state agencies make needed changes to feed more hungry kids.

For example:

  • Our grants help summer meals programs refurbish school buses so they can take them into neighborhoods to feed kids free summer meals.
  • We work with cafeteria staff to plan the logistics of delivering healthy breakfasts to the classroom.
  • Our entire network, folks like you, jump in to spread the word when a piece of legislation needs to be brought to voters' attention because it will help feed more kids.

Thank you to all our community partners, corporate supporters, donors and other members of Team No Kid Hungry. We couldn’t have done it without you. These 775 million meals are a remarkable milestone, and proof that when we all work together, we can end childhood hunger in America.
